The Universe Said Pause and We Did
The world as we know it, knew it, has changed quite a bit in the last 2 weeks. For the first time in anyone I knows living history, the world has paused.
Technically, we are under quarantine and being asked to stay indoors so as to not spread the coronavirus. Jobs deemed non-essential have been closed down, schools from daycare to colleges and universities have been closed, sporting events are long gone, parks are closed and everything else you can think of that was our everyday normal has been shut down. We have been socialized to wake up, get ready for school or work, work all day, rush home, take care of home and sleep and repeat and now we are being socialized to think we have nothing to wake up for hence the boredom outcry.
I have thoughts on this virus that has shut down countries that don’t even have it around the world simply because there’s a fear that it’s coming. In a nutshell, my thoughts are that the virus is not enough to cause this pause based on the numbers and the way the immune system works. I know I’m in the minority here and I am fine with that. I’m just baffled that instead of providing or mandating daily vitamin C and other immune boosters to everyone, the solution was to instead shut down. I learned a long time ago that the obvious is not so obvious mostly and I have learned to live with that.
No matter the reason for the pause, I am thankful for the pause.
I have had to change my mindset from the GO mindset that I’ve known all my life to one of peace and taking it in minute by minute every single day. Instead of looking at the 12 hours that I’m awake and the 8 hour work block that’s now free and need to be filled, I choose to fill each minute with gratitude.
We always complained about being too busy. Now we are not. We have endless opportunities to do things we could never do before. There are hobbies just waiting to be picked up. I’ve seen people learning how to play the piano. I plan on studying my camera. I got a new juicer and experimenting with new flavors. I can get back to writing this book that is 80% done and lives in my laptop.
The streets are empty and cleaner. The air is less polluted. The pollen in Georgia is still here because nature is nature. I saw a yellow butterfly the other day. Around the world there are reports of clearer rivers. The animals whose homes we took by building homes and parks have their natural habitats again without our interference. Today, I saw school buses deliver school lunches on my morning walk and it brought tears to my eyes because humanity shined through and it was beautiful to witness because I wasn't in a hurry.
This pause has come with financial uncertainty because we are working nations worldwide. Without work there is no paycheck and we are nations that work and live off of paychecks. Some nations have eased financial burdens immediately and citizens can pause for 4 months without worry then theirs our nation giving relief that is a fraction of a month’s pay. The Universe told us to take a pause and surely has a financial plan as well. We just have to wait and see what that is.
Stop looking at this pause as boredom and instead look at it as an opportunity to better yourself.

“People always say the universe is testing them
but I’m always testing the universe
When I need to say, show me.
Show me your miracles.
Show me how wonderful and magical I know you can be.
Show me what I need to know to pass this lesson.
and it never fails.”
The Universe has been around for centuries and hasn’t failed us yet.
Trust it.
Show us Universe.
